Dan Damon
Dan Damon Bassist Dan Damon started playing Bass in the mid 80's and has played in over 20 bands performing both originals and cover songs in hundreds of nightclubs and music venues throughout New York State. Dan is an accomplished Bassist in a full spectrum of music that includes Funk, Rock, Blues, Jazz, Folk and Alternative styles. In 1991, after performing in half of dozen highly acclaimed cover bands, Dan co-founded an open mike night that gave him a chance to break out his original material. In February 1992, the "Open Mike at Olde World" reached its zenith when several local newspapers (The Oswegonian and Syracuse Herald-Journal) both published editorials praising the "talent and comradeship" of the weekly event. Dan received individual recognition for his original song "Tienanmen Square that implored listeners to rekindle the light". After the success of Olde World Bakery, Dan moved to Albany, New York and concentrated on performing his original material. In 1992, Dan formed two original bands and was well recognized for "his flame breathing bass playing" and "fresh heavy grooves" of The Skin Trade (Metroland) while "the dripping with soul" The Dillspears were recognized as "Albany's newest sensation in folk, blues and off-beat humor" (Mother Earth's). In 1993, Dan combined his diverse taste and created the high-energy funk band. The Husky Trousers, which developed a cult-like following in the tri-city region. Soon after, Dan recorded and released "Choice" and "Elephant" which was distributed across the area and received local radio airplay. In 1994, Dan moved to New York City and provided the foundation for the hard-hitting alternative band EarthDog. Over the next several years, EarthDog performed in virtually every bar in the East Village and extended its non-stop performances from Woodstock to Huntington where Dan was "solid as granite" (Manhattan Mirror). After a brief respite, Dan reappeared at the "Off Wall Street Jam" and with the cover band Urban Nomads, was voted unanimously as the "1997 Best Bassist of the Sixth Annual Jammy Awards". For the next two years, Dan playing with the Nomads and several other cover bands and performed at local hot spots, the Bitter End and Le Bar Bat. In addition to his musical compulsions, Dan holds a Master of Public Health degree and works as a Healthcare Consultant for Watson Wyatt Worldwide. Dan currently resides on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City with his beautiful wife of several years.
